Our History
Garners News operates a professional Newspaper Delivery Service across Sussex. We are a family run company now in its fourth generation of the Garner Family. Using adult drivers enables us to offer a reliable and early newspaper delivery service to over 2300 customers daily.
We began as a traditional newsagent in South Street, Eastbourne, by Horice Garner in 1926. The business served the local community and delivered only a handful of newspapers to homes in nearby streets. During the Second World War, Horice's son, Jack Garner and his wife Dorothy, took over and grew the deliveries to nearly 100 customers.
In 1981, Michael, one of three sons, bought the from his Mother. With the growth of deliveries, adults began to be used. In 2007, William, Michael's son, joined and rapidly expanded the area and number of customers. In 2012, William bought the business and has now turned Garners News from a traditional newsagent into a professional Newspaper Delivery Company.
Traditional Family Run Business
We operate out of 2 distribution centres, which are based in Eastbourne and Tunbridge Wells. This enables us to offer early delivery to our main areas of delivery. Using adult drivers has benefited our existing customers with a reliable, early, efficient and consistent newspaper delivery service. There is also the added advantage of much earlier delivery times compared with other traditional newsagents.
We deliver to over 2000 customers daily covering Eastbourne, Tunbridge Wells, Crowborough and Sevenoaks. We deliver all the national newspapers and offer over magazines from a range of over 3000 titles.
